As for what we’re going to be doing in this space: The goal here will be to help you fill out your lineup. This post will be for the games on Sunday, March 14 and I’ll be talking about the lineup that I’m going to be going with. Let’s get started.
The stars
DeAndre Jordan, C, Clippers (9.400): Blake Griffin is still questionable for Sunday, meaning even if he does play it's highly unlikely he gets many minutes. With that being the case, Jordan remains a great play. The Dwight Howard-less Rockets, who the Clippers play Sunday, are small up front. Jordan is averaging 17.3 points, 17.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in three games against Houston this year. No reason to believe he won't at least match that Sunday.
Kawhi Leonard, SF, Spurs ($8,500): Leonard played his best game of the year in front of a national audience Thursday on TNT. Making it more impressive was that it came while matched up against LeBron James. Leonard is averaging 22.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.2 blocks over his last five games, while shooting a ridiculous 58 percent from the field. Sunday he and the Spurs will go up against the Timberwolves, who are allowing opposing small forwards to score 35.3 FanDuel points per game (via Rotoworld). The worry here would be that the Spurs play too well and blow Minnesota out, forcing Leonard to the bench. But San Antonio hasn't played since Thursday and doesn't play again until Tuesday. Minutes shouldn't be a problem.
Mid-priced players
Kenneth Faried, PF, Nuggets ($6,800): Faried has been on fire of late, playing like a man possessed ever since the Nuggets fired Brian Shawn and named assistant Melvin Hunt the team's interim head coach. In the seven games since the change, Faried is averaging 16.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.0 steal. As you can see from his price, FanDuel has yet to fully adjust. On Sunday Faried and the Nuggets will face the Pelicans. Anthony Davis could make things difficult there for Faried, but at this point you just want to keep riding this train until Faried slows down.
Tony Parker, PG, Spurs ($6,600): Pretty much everything said about Leonard above applies to Parker here. He's been playing his best ball of the year over the past couple of weeks and has a great matchup on Sunday. The Timberwolves are actually the third-worst team in the league at containing opposing point guards from a FanDuel perspective, according to Rotoworld's database. They've gotten better in that department recently, but a lot of that has to do with the return of Ricky Rubio. Rubio, however, hurt his ankle over the weekend and is now questionable for Sunday. Even if he does play, he'll be far from 100 percent.
J.J. Redick, SG, Clippers ($6,400): With Jamal Crawford injured and out, the Clippers have been forced to lean more heavily on Redick, and the sharp-shooting guard has delivered. Redick is averaging 22.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals and shooting 47 percent from the field over his past five games. Against the high-octane Rockets, he's going to be needed, and given lots of opportunities to let it fly.
Aaron Brooks, PG, Bulls ($6,100): This is what happens when Derrick Rose goes down. Whoever the backup point guard is suddenly becomes an elite fantasy performer. Brooks is averaging 23.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds over his last three games. He'll have his hands full with Russell Westbrook and the Thunder on Sunday, but the Bulls need him to score and so Brooks should have no problem getting shots up.
Danilo Gallinari, SF, Nuggets ($5,900): Another Nuggets player seemingly benefiting from the coaching change. Gallinari is averaging 17.6 points and 5.1 rebounds since Hunt took over, and he's put up 35.9 and 37.5 FanDuel points in his last two games. At less than $6,000, you really can't ask for more.
Andrea Bargnani, PF, Knicks ($5,500): The former No. 1 pick is taking advantage of his situation -- that situation being the fact that he's one of the few legitimate professional basketball players on the Knicks' roster. As a result, Bargnani has become the Knicks' primary offensive option and, from a numbers standpoint, he's actually been pretty good of late, averaging 18.4 points and 4.2 rebounds over his last five games. You won't feel good about going with Andrea Bargnani and for good reason since he is, in fact, still Andrea Bargnani. But he's a really good bargain here at this price. Sometimes you just need to suck it up.
The Rest
Tony Snell, SG, Bulls ($4,900): Snell has been a disappointment, not giving fantasy owners the output they hoped for after Jimmy Bulter went down. But he's still getting minutes and he does have the talent to put up some good all-around numbers. In his last three games he's played 38, 45 and 36 minutes. He's bound to eventually get some shots to fall. Given the amount of playing time he's getting, it's worth going with him as you're one gamble for Sunday.
