The Philadelphia 76ers agreed to waive center JaVale McGee, according to Sam Amick of USA Today. The move comes not long after Philadelphia acquired McGee in a trade and is expected to be completed in time to allow McGee to be postseason eligible.
76ers will reportedly waive center JaVale McGee
McGee played just five games in Philadelphia.

While there were initial talks of a buyout, Amick and Marc Stein of ESPN report McGee did not have to give back any salary in a buyout. He is owed the rest of his $11.2 million salary this season and $12 million next year. McGee will have to clear waivers but is then expected to sign with a playoff contender.
McGee originally expressed a desire to stay in Philadelphia and be a mentor for the young team, but a chance to play for a winning team apparently changed his mind. McGee had to be waived by midnight Sunday to be eligible to join another team. Although the move has yet to be officially announced, Amick reports McGee will be eligible to sign with a postseason contender.
McGee arrived in Philadelphia in a trade deadline deal with Denver earlier this month, but only played limited minutes in five games. He averaged 9.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 18 minutes for Denver in the 2012-13 season, his last full year of NBA play.
