Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler is in position to play Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets after missing the team's last 11 games with an elbow sprain, head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters.

The Bulls guard, who missed three weeks with an elbow injury, is aiming to return for Chicago’s Monday night game against Charlotte.

Butler worked with Chicago’s starters during the Bulls’ Monday morning shootaround and will not be on a minutes limit when he returns, according to Thibodeau. He has been out for three weeks, which was the minimum amount of time he was expected to miss when he first got hurt.
The Bulls have posted a 5-6 record in Butler’s absence. They’re currently 42-29 and in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Before he got hurt Butler was averaging a career-high 20.2 points to go along with 5.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists, which earned him his first All-Star appearance. He was also playing nearly 39 minutes per game. With Derrick Rose now sidelined, that number is unlikely to drop, even with Butler returning from an injury.
