There's no question Golden State's decision to fire Mark Jackson and bring in Steve Kerr was the right one. The Warriors have the NBA's best record and are a title favorite for the upcoming playoffs.
Mark Jackson told Warriors owner ‘I’m praying for you’ when he was fired
How nice.
But that hasn’t stopped Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob from explaining why he fired Jackson earlier this year and Jackson responding in a church sermon shortly afterwards.
In last week’s sermon, Jackson mentioned Lacob again.
“I had a joy when I was coaching,” Jackson said to his church congregation on Sunday, according to the Bay Area News Group. “I had a joy when I got fired. The owner of the Golden State Warriors was baffled when I left the meeting, shook his hand and smiled. I said, ‘I’m praying for you.‘ He looked at me like I just cussed him out. All I said was, ‘I’m praying for you.’ There are folks in this world that cannot comprehend or understand the peace that you have.”
Lacob probably doesn’t want or need to issue any sort of response. If the Warriors do with the Finals, though, he’d have a chance to one up Jackson for good.
