James Harden returned for Houston, but it wasn’t enough to get the Rockets a win against Memphis. The game came down to the final seconds and ended with a controversial no call. Meanwhile Russell Westbrook notched ANOTHER triple double, his fourth straight.
The wildest night of the NBA season

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY SportsIf you can come up with a crazier night of regular season basketball than March 4, 2015, I’m all ears. OK, this is probably a case of recency bias, but what went down on Wednesday was truly wild. It epitomized the NBA’s slogan of “Where Amazing Happens.”
Wednesday featured outstanding games by MVP candidates, some improbable performances and several game-winners. If I haven’t hammered this point home enough, it was an amazing night.

Ohhhhh no. Doc Rivers drew up a lovely set for the Clippers to break their tie with Portland with just over 2 seconds to go. Chris Paul’s shot rimmed out, but that wasn’t the end of it ... or shouldn’t have been:
DeAndre Jordan grabbed the rebound and, having heard a buzzer, just stood there. That was the shot clock buzzer (there were 1.7 seconds left there vs. 2.8 on the game clock), and he actually had a full second in which to easily put that ball back up and in to win the game. He even held the ball aloft as if to demonstrate how easy it would have been to end it all.

Westbrook did something not done since MJ

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY SportsDid the mask slow Westbrook down? Not even a little.
The triple-double for Westbrook was his fourth straight. It put him in some historic company:

The Grizzlies and Rockets went back and forth for 48 minutes on Wednesday night in a game that had the feel of a Western Conference playoff contest. The game came down the final possession by each team.
James Harden drove into the teeth of the Memphis defense with under 10 seconds left and the shot clock winding down. There was a lot of contact on the play, but no foul was called and the Grizzlies gained possession:

Via FOX Sports OhioThe Raptors can’t contain LeBron James or any Cavaliers players off the dribble, so they’ve resorted to using tactics from a different sport. Way to wrap him up, Jonas Valanciunas!
It hasn’t been a good week for James. First: James Harden kicked him in the crotch. Now, this. I’d be mad too.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY SportsAn early 16-0 run put Houston out in front, and the Rockets stayed there, at one point even leading by 18. With 10:32 left in the game, Houston held a 15-point lead. The game looked to be over.
With the loss, which was perfectly summed up afterwards by General Manager Daryl Morey (see below), Houston fell to 41-19. The team, though, is still in third place in the Western Conference.
