As for what we’re going to be doing in this space: The goal here will be to help you fill out your lineup. This post will be for the games on Sunday, March 8 and I’ll be talking about the lineup that I’m going to be going with. Let’s get started.
The stars
Russell Westbrook, PG, Thunder ($12,500): Yeah, that's a crazy price, but at this point you can't afford to not have Westbrook in your lineup. He's averaging 73 FanDuel points over his last four games. 73! On Thursday he failed to record his fifth-straight triple-double... instead he dropped 43 points, to go along with eight rebounds and seven assists. If you want a chance to win big cash, you need Westbrook in your lineup, no matter what the price. On Sunday he faces the Raptors, a team that at times has struggled at containing opposing guards. With Kevin Durant out again, there's no reason to believe Westbrook won't continue his dominant streak.
Pau Gasol, PF, Bulls ($9,200): With Rose out, Gasol is now the Bulls' primary offensive weapon. He's averaging 19.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.0, 1.0 blocks and shooting 51 percent from the field over his last three games. The Bulls play the Spurs on Sunday -- not a great matchup, but these days Gasol is as sure a bet as there is in daily fantasy formats.
Mid-priced players
Victor Oladipo, SG, Magic ($7,700): Oladipo has been on fire over his past two games -- he's scored a combined 70 points and recorded 104 FanDuel points. That's a train you want to keep riding until it slows down. The Magic's Sunday game against the Celtics could be a fast-paced one. Boston likes to push the ball, and with Avery Bradley out of the lineup, the Celtics no longer have their primary defensive stopper.
Rudy Gobert, C, Jazz ($7,500): Until his price hits the $9,000 mark, Gobert should be in your lineup almost every night. He now has seven straight games with 30+ FanDuel points. It would be a surprise if he doesn't extend that streak Sunday against the Nets.
Rajon Rondo, PG, Mavericks ($5,600): This is great value. Rondo and the Mavericks will be facing the Lakers on Sunday. No team in the NBA allows opposing point guards to score more FanDuel points per game (43.7, via Rotoworld). Rondo has also picked things up of late; he's averaging 14.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.0 steals and shooting 46 percent from the field over his last three games. Against the hapless Lakers defense, Sunday might bring us a vintage Rondo performance.
Jae Crowder, SG, Celtics ($5,100): The beginning of the value plays here. Seeking out the guys getting a boost in a minutes because of someone else's injury is always a good strategy. With Avery Bradley out, Crowder fits in that category. He's crossed the 30 FanDuel-point mark in five out of his last eight games, and played 37 minutes Friday against the Pelicans, the first game Bradley missed. With Crowder, the question is always whether he can get some shots to go down. But you know he's going to hustle, and if he gets playing time, the rest of his box score is always going to be filled out.
Cody Zeller, PF, Hornets ($5,000): Probably the weakest play of the group, but you have to take a chance somewhere. What's Zeller bringing to the table on Sunday? He's playing the Pistons, a team allowing opposing power forward to score 41.6 FanDuel points per game, the second highest number in the league (via Rotoworld).
The rest
Terrence Ross, PF, Raptors ($3,800): Ross was reinserted into the Raptors' starting lineup Friday and dished out a season-high seven assists. It's been a bit of a struggle for him this year, but any time you can get a talented player for this price who you can assume will get some minutes, well, it's worth taking a shot. Also, the Thunder, who the Raptors play on Sunday, have been allowing opposing power forwards to score 39.5 FanDuel points per game this season, the seventh highest number in the league (via Rotoworld).
Tony Snell, SG, Bulls ($3,200): Another bet on a guy taking advantage of injuries surrounding him. Snell has become a main cog in the Bulls' lineup now that Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler are both out. At $3,200, you can't ask for more.
