As for what we’re going to be doing in this space: The goal here will be to help you fill out your lineup. This post will be for the games on Sunday, April 12 and I’ll be talking about the lineup that I’m going to be going with. Let’s get started.
The stars
James Harden, SG, Rockets ($11,100): Sunday's sure thing. The Rockets are still going for home court and you know Harden wants that MVP award. At this point in the season, it's hard to find guys certain to be going all out. Harden, who is averaging 30.8 points, 6.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds over his last five games, is one of them, even if his matchup against the Pelicans is a tough one.
Danilo Gallinari, SF, Nuggets ($7,400): Gallinari exploded for 47 points Friday against the Mavericks and has been on fire, and filling up the stat sheet, over his last seven games: 23.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks. Yeah, this is buying high, but the bet here is that Gallo continues to play at this level, especially since he's playing the lowly Kings on Sunday, a team surrendering 35.9 FanDuel points to opposing small forwards per game this season, the third-worst number in the league (via Rotowold).
Tim Duncan, PF, Spurs ($7,200): Another star on a team still playing meaningful games. Also, the Spurs on Sunday play the Suns, a team really struggling against the opposing big man of late (54.3 FanDuel points to opposing centers over their last five games, per Rotoworld). The worry here is that Duncan only goes about 25 minutes, but given the rest of the lineup, he ended up being the best option at this price.
Mid-priced players
Deron Williams, PG, Nets ($6,900): Not sure where this came from, but definitely worth riding out. Williams is averaging 16.8 points. 9.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds over his last five games. Also, to continue the theme here, the Nets are another team still playing meaningful games. This makes D-Will one of the better point guard plays around.
Isaiah Thomas, PG, Celtics ($6,800): A similar thing could be written about Thomas. He's playing for a team competing for a playoff spot, and he's averaging 25.3 points and 5.0 assists over his last three games. Boston faces Cleveland on Sunday, a team just coasting until the playoffs begin. Would it be crazy if Thomas went for 30 against the Cavaliers?
DeMarre Carroll, SF, Hawks ($6,000): We're breaking the "get guys playing for teams that still care" rule for Carroll because, well, somebody's got to play for the Hawks and Carroll's the best bet. He's not one of the team's studs, so he won't be getting the night off. But he's also good enough that we know he can produce if given minutes. Carroll is averaging 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals over his last three games. He should be able to replicate all of that Sunday against the Wizards.
The Rest
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, SG, Pistons ($4,800): Bargain bin time. First up is KCP, who's cooled off a bit of late but has shown the ability to fill up a box score (he's averaging 15.1 points over his last 10 games). You got to take a chance on some guys; better to go for one who you at least know can score.
Ryan Kelly, PF, Lakers ($4,800): Perhaps the most valuable play here. Kelly stinks, but so do the Lakers. Because of the latter, Kelly is now getting minutes, and shots. He's averaging 15.3 points, 4.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 36 minutes per game over his last five. To get that for less that $5,000 is a steal.
Tyler Zeller, C, Celtics ($4,700): This is mostly about the matchup. Cleveland is allowing opposing centers to score 54 FanDuel points per game over its last five (per Rotoworld). Also, as mentioned above, the Cavaliers have nothing to play for right now. Zeller, who is averaging 13.2 points and 6.4 rebounds in his last five games, should be able to take advantage.
