To make the playoffs, the Pelicans had to beat the San Antonio Spurs on the final day of the regular season. They did just that, and while Anthony Davis didn't score 60 points like we were hoping for, he did still score 31 points, grab 13 rebounds and block three shots, including two huge ones with the game on the line.
Pelicans vs. Warriors, NBA playoffs 2015: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Game 1 online
The NBA’s best team against the NBA’s brightest young player.
In his first playoff appearance, Davis gets to play the Golden State Warriors. They won 67 games and are the best team in the league, behind MVP candidate Stephen Curry and first-year head coach Steve Kerr.
With Davis on the other side, this series may be one of the more entertaining first round series. However, it won’t be too competitive. The Pelicans are a ways off from truly challenging an NBA team in a seven-game series, particularly not the Warriors.
Golden State has the league’s best offense, best defense, fastest pace, best shooter, most versatile defender and maybe even the loudest home court. From start to finish, the Warriors have played incredible basketball and absolutely deserve to be considered the favorites for the title.
Still, people doubt them because they’re not the Spurs or LeBron James. To prove them wrong, they may just have to win the whole thing.
