WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT: Chris Copeland and his wife were stabbed/slashed during an altercation at a NYC nightclub early Wednesday morning. At the same club, Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha were arrested for allegedly obstructing the creation of crime scene. Copeland and his wife are in stable condition. The man who allegedly stabbed the Copelands was arrested, according to the New York Daily News.
Obviously we all hope the Copelands are well and will not suffer any health impacts (physical or mental) from this. But the single most amazing thing about all of this to me is that the Hawks played in Atlanta on Tuesday night. Antic and Sefolosha were in the rotation. They play the Nets in Brooklyn on Wednesday. And yet they were in a club early Wednesday morning. Modern air travel and the energy levels of youngish basketball stars are like sorcery to me.
MEANWHILE, IN BASKETBALL ... The Pelicans got a massive, exhilarating win over the Warriors thanks to (who else?) Anthony Davis. New Orleans now owns the No. 8 seed. (The Thunder got whooped by the Spurs.) Stephen Curry almost reversed the result on what would have been a botched non-call by the referees. Those officials are the first people in the league to be bailed out by a Curry brick all season. The Brow later fueled a potential first-round series with Golden State by saying the Warriors foolishly treated the game against the Pels “like a scrimmage.” We’ve got a lot of BUCKS IN 6 potential here, folks ...
