Warriors general manager Bob Myers is the 2014-15 NBA Basketball Executive of the Year, the NBA announced on Friday. The Cavaliers' David Griffin finished second and the Hawks' Mike Budenholzer, standing in for Danny Ferry, was voted third.
Warriors GM Bob Myers named NBA Executive of the Year
The front office of the NBA’s best team is rewarded.

Golden State finished an NBA-best 67-15, improving their record from last year by 16 wins. Myers' key moves were the hiring of Steve Kerr to coach the team last summer and the decision to not trade Klay Thompson for Kevin Love when the deal was supposedly on the table. The Warriors also signed Shaun Livingston to back up Stephen Curry.
Myers finished with 13 of the 30 first-place votes, while Griffin received eight and Budenholzer four. Detroit’s Stan Van Gundy, Chicago’s Gar Forman, Boston’s Danny Ainge and Portland’s Neil Olshey also received first place votes. Unlike other end of season awards, Executive of the Year is voted on by the NBA’s other executives.
Griffin was in charge of the NBA’s biggest story last year, the return of LeBron James to Cleveland. He also swapped Andrew Wiggins (and other pieces) for Kevin Love while executed two mid-season trades that brought J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and Timofey Mozgov to the team. Budenholzer coached the Hawks to 60 wins and the No. 1 seed in the East.
