The Spurs lost, so naturally the question of whether the team’s core of Gregg Popovich, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili returns next year came up in the postgame press conference. Most coaches swat this away with disdain. Gregg Popovich chose to deflect it with humor.
In Pop’s defense: The paycheck is pretty good.
For what it’s worth, someone asked Tim Duncan about Pop’s words. Duncan’s response: “If that’s what he said, that’s what he said. I’m not making any statement.”
