DeMarre Carroll will suit up for Game 2 of the Eastern conference finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team announced. Carroll is in the starting lineup for the Atlanta Hawks.
Hawks’ DeMarre Carroll will play Game 2 against Cavaliers despite knee injury
Carroll’s injury was not as serious as initially thought and he will suit up in Game 2 of the East finals.

Carroll suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter of Game 1 on a drive to the rim. There was no contact and he seemed in great pain so it was speculated that his ligaments could have been compromised. An MRI showed there was no structural damage and Carroll was listed as day-to-day before being confirmed as active for the matchup on Friday.
Having Carroll available is huge for the Hawks, especially considering Thabo Sefolosha is out for the season. Carroll is their best perimeter defender and a reliable shooter. Without him, Kent Bazemore and Paul Millsap would have been tapped to guard LeBron James, which is less than ideal. It's unclear at what level and for how many minutes Carroll will be on the court but anything he can give Atlanta will help.
Carroll is averaging 16 points, six rebounds and two assists per game in the postseason.
