Good morning. Let’s basketball.
Good morning. LeBron is the Greatest of All Time Lords.
That and more in Wednesday’s NBA newsletter.

HOLY HELL: What is even happening right now? Cleveland goes up 2-1 after another tight, thrilling game in which the Cavaliers completely take the Warriors out of their game. Golden State had chances late, but Cleveland had built enough of a lead (+20 at one point!) to survive. LeBron dropped 40-12-8. No big deal. Stephen Curry was locked up by Matthew Dellavedova in the first half but sprung free late to give Golden State a huge boost of confidence heading into Game 4.
How to read a LeBron box score like a sane person. I wrote this on the back of Game 2, but it so applies to Game 3 as well.
DELLY DOWN: Matthew Dellavedova played a fierce-as-hell game and found himself in the hospital afterwards with severe cramping. He did a ton of good stuff, but his alley-oop to LeBron in transition late was a showstopper. He also offered one more Zapruderesque clip to anyone making a Dellavedova Is A Dirty Mothertrucker reel by responding to a hard Draymond Green screen by chopblocking his knees. Delly contains multitudes.
STILL, ACCURATE: Delly got a bit too much credit for slowing Curry in Game 2.
AND ONE: Brian Windhorst tells the story of how Cleveland won the cheap bidding war for Dellavedova in 2013.
THE RINGMASTER: Lee Jenkins with an enormous, wonderful story on Steve Kerr.
MEA CULPA: I picked the Warriors in five, and was rather convinced Cleveland had no shot. Why? I didn’t think the Cavaliers’ defense was as good as even the adjusted numbers from the East bracket indicated, and I didn’t think Cleveland’s kneecapped offense could do anything against the No. 1 defense in the NBA. How wrong I was.
THE MARK JACKSON PUBLIC REHABILITATION PROJECT CONTINUES: Mark Jackson drops a sly reference to LeBron James Kid late in an NBA Finals game. No big deal.
THERE’S ALWAYS THIS YEAR: The Cavs’ intro was dope.
A NOD TOWARD HISTORY: LeBron bows to a courtside Jim Brown before the game. More importantly, read William Rhoden’s powerful column on LeBron and Brown.
OH DEAR: Photo evidence the Warriors flew their entire full-time staff to Cleveland. That’s an awkward flight home ...
NOT THERE YET: How Tristan Thompson can get even better.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER: Ricky O’Donnell on what Kelly Oubre needs to do to reach his potential.
WHAT’S THE OPPOSITE OF A FALLING STAR? Explaining why Cameron Payne is shooting up draft boards incredibly fast.
#BUZZWORDS: How the Internet of Things will shake up sports marketing. I just hope my Smart Waffle Iron doesn’t start telling me to become a breakfast defector. I can’t handle that pressure in the morning.
Happy Wednesday. See you next time.
