Warriors vs. Cavaliers, NBA Finals 2015: Time, TV schedule and live stream for Game 6
The Warriors will look for a win that gives them their first championship in 40 years while the Cavaliers will try to force a Game 7.
The Warriors could be crowned NBA champions for the first time in 40 years with a win on Tuesday in Cleveland. After falling behind 1-2, Golden State made the adjustment to start Andre Iguodala in Andrew Bogut's stead and the move has paid off greatly, with them winning the next two matchups by 21 and 13 points, respectively. Now it will be time for the Cavaliers to make an adjustment that allows them to contain the Warriors and send the series back to Oakland for Game 7.
LeBron James was a monster in Game 5 after a relatively quiet Game 4. He finished with 40 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists to continue to put together one of the best all-around performances in the finals, ever. James is averaging 36 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists per game, essentially carrying a starless team by himself. He will need more from the team's perimeter role players going forward for Cleveland to have a chance, as it's become increasingly clear that the Cavaliers simply can't have two big men on the court at the same time. Unless J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert can provide supplementary scoring, things are not looking good for the Eastern conference champions.
As for the Warriors, the mid-series adjustment completely changed the makeup of the team but has been incredibly effective. The Cavaliers wanted to preserve their starting lineup in Game 5 but had to sub out Timofey Mozgov when it became obvious he didn't have anyone to guard and was hurting the team's transition defense. With no one patrolling the paint, the Warriors outscored Cleveland inside and Stephen Curry's 37 points sealed the win. Unless coach David Blatt can find a way to counter the strategy, it's hard to see the Warriors letting the title slip away.
Regardless of the end result, Game 6 is a must-watch Tuesday night. Whether because the Warriors win the championship or LeBron James stops them with another historically good performance, the game has the makings of an instant classic. The NBA season is almost over but there will be at least one more high-stakes, action-packed night.
