9 unforgettable moments from the Warriors’ dream season

They won and had a lot of fun doing it.

1. The early-season statement

Coming into the season, the West looked wide open. The Spurs were the favorite to win it all, with the Thunder, Grizzlies and Clippers a step behind in the public's consideration. The Warriors had lost to the Clippers in the first round the previous postseason and were thought of as being in the next tier.

That is, until they destroyed the Clippers in the fourth game of the season while taunting them in the process.

It was clear they’d be a special team.

2. The love affair with the coco

Early in the season, the Warriors started singing O.T. Genasis "I'm in Love with the Coco" after wins.

After a while, the NBA asked them to stop because the song is about cocaine. The Warriors let the league know they were talking about Cocoa Krispies all along.

Of course, there was a championship edition of the song.

3. Klay’s legendary quarter

Klay Thompson became an All-Star during the 2014-15 season because of his improved ball-handling and finishing ability. But he never lost his touch from the outside, as the Kings found out the hard way in January.

These are ridiculous shots.

Other NBA stars couldn’t believe what was happening.

When Dirk is impressed, you know you’ve done something special.

4. ‘Cool story, Glenn’

Draymond Green emerged as a key player and emotional leader of the team, but his ferocity on the court rubbed some opponents the wrong way, resulting in some altercations. None were more memorable than when Dahntay Jones bumped him as he was conducting an interview.

Green is not only to be feared on the court. After that awkward moment he destroyed Jones on his post game interview.

Coach Doc Rivers, always known for defending his players, sarcastically called out Green for making a bigger deal out of the bump than it really was. Green's response?

“Glenn,” of course, is Doc’s official name, but nobody actually calls him “Glenn.” Green eventually turned the slogan into a T-shirt.

5. Steph ruins the Mavs

When Stephen Curry is feeling it, every shot he makes seems easy. That's exactly what happened when Curry went off for 51 points against the Mavericks on just 26 field goal attempts in early February. It was obvious he was having a special season, but on that night, he reached another level.

6. Steph’s MVP speech
Performances like that one earned Curry his first MVP award. There were plenty of jokes and light moments, but the best part was just how emotional he became when he thanked his father, former NBA player Dell Curry.

7. The comeback in New Orleans

The Warriors went into the playoffs as heavy favorites to win it all. The eighth-seed Pelicans, however, gave them all they could handle at times. In fact, they were well on their way to winning Game 3 at home, up by 20 points going into the fourth quarter.

But with Curry leading the way, the Warriors somehow forced overtime and won, crushing New Orleans’ chances of avoiding the sweep. How is this shot even possible?

“To make that shot shows everything that Steph is about,” Steve Kerr said, via our Paul Flannery. “On a night when he’s not even having a great shooting performance, his confidence level is just off the charts. He’s fearless. He wants every big shot.”

This probability chart shows just how unlikely that win was.

8. Riley Curry, superstar

Stephen Curry was the MVP of the regular season and Andre Iguodala was the MVP of the Finals. That’s what the record books will say. Everyone who watched the playoffs knows the real MVP was Riley Curry.

9. The title itself

The Warriors adjusted in the middle of the NBA Finals and won three games straight after being down 1-2. They had all the pressure against a shorthanded Cavaliers team, but pulled through and won the franchise's first title in 40 years. A historically great team got the reward it deserved.

Andre Iguodala won Finals MVP and Stephen Curry became one of the league’s biggest and most unique stars. Oh, and he’s also Riley’s dad.
