Mario Hezonja became the youngest player to score 18 or more points in an ACB League final on Friday, nailing 5-of-6 shots from behind the arc.
NBA prospect Mario Hezonja sets scoring record against one of Europe’s best teams
Hezonja caught fire from behind the arc and gave NBA teams another example of why they should draft him.
Hezonja, who is just 20 years old but has already been tabbed as the "cockiest draft prospect in years," is a lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft and will probably go in the top six. Playing for his Spanish club FC Barcelona, Hezonja backed up the talk against rival Real Madrid, even though his squad still lost 78-72.
The game helps alleviate any concerns teams might have about Hezonja’s lack of playing time and production this season in Europe. He’s only averaged 15 minutes and six points with FC Barcelona, which is more a product of their depth than anything Hezonja himself has done. On Friday, he showed his pure shooting stroke and even created a shot in the mid-range, as you can see below.
This is one hell of a way for Hezonja to finish his European career. Now let’s see if he can do it in the NBA, too.
