With the 51st pick in the 2015 NBA Draft the Orlando Magic have selected Tyler Harvey. The Eastern Washington guard led the NCAA in scoring last year during his senior season.

Harvey redshirted his freshman season and had a small role as a sophomore before taking the Big Sky Conference by storm in his last two years in college. He finished eighth nationally in scoring in 2013-14 and led all players in 2014-15 with 23 points per game on 47 percent shooting from the field and 43 from beyond the arc. His senior year performance led to his second appearance on the All-Big Sky Conference first team.

Last season at Eastern Washington, Harvey led the Eagles to a 14-4 regular season conference record and the conference championship after beating Montana in the finals. That win led to the program’s first tournament appearance in 10 years. The Eagles lost to the Georgetown Hoyas in the first round, but Harvey’s 27 points in the game showed he could excel in a big stage after flying under the radar due to playing in the Big Sky.

In Harvey the Magic get a legitimate scorer. Harvey can shoot from all over the court and create shots off the dribble. The question with him is his size and athleticism and how that translates to the defensive end of the floor. But to get the reigning NCAA scoring champion at this point in the draft is something Orlando should be excited about.
