2015 NBA Draft results: Hornets select Juan Vaulet with No. 39 pick, trade him to Nets

The Argentinian will go to Brooklyn.

SB Nation's 2015 NBA Draft Tracker

With the 39th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets selected Juan Vaulet, then traded him to the Brooklyn Nets for two future second-round picks. He is a 19-year-old Argentian power forward, and there was some speculation that another team gave him a promise.

Many were surprised that Vaulet left his name in the draft. That usually means a promise, and Draft Express' Jonathan Givony suggested it was the Spurs at No. 55 that made that promise. Either the Nets jumped the Spurs or they were actually the ones to offer the guarantee.

Vaulet had put up some impressive performance in under-17 and under-19 levels in 2013 before a foot injury cost him nearly a year of action. He’s been working to get back to that level ever since. He plays professionally for Bahia Basket, an Argentinian team. He is a do-it-all small forward that is still developing his skills, which is why he didn’t play much.
