The New York Knicks are loaded with salary cap space and ready to bolster the team with veteran free agents this summer. New York is considered the "frontrunner" to land big man Greg Monroe and shooting guard Arron Afflalo in free agency, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Knicks are the ‘frontrunners’ to land Greg Monroe, Arron Afflalo in free agency, per report
Carmelo Anthony could be getting some major help next season.
Monroe has spent his entire career with the Detroit Pistons, but decided to play last season on the qualifying offer after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a long-term deal. Now he's an unrestricted free agent who can sign with any team without the threat of Detroit matching the contract. Monroe averaged 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last year with the Pistons.
Afflalo was traded from the Nuggets to the Trail Blazers in the middle of last season. His scoring average of 10.6 was his lowest in in six years, but he's still a reliable three-point shooter, making 40 percent of 3.6 attempts per game. He'll be 30 years old next season.
