The Los Angeles Lakers will get a meeting with Kevin Love in the opening week of free agency, according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard. There were reports earlier in the week that Love is “highly likely” to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers on what’s expected to be a five-year max deal. The Lakers have a history of getting meetings with everyone in free agency, so this may or may not mean anything.

The Lakers have been as active as any team in the days before free agency. Los Angeles has meetings planned with LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan already, and have been rumored to interest Chicago’s Jimmy Butler. Hours before free agency officially opened, the Lakers were rumored to be trying to shed salary to potentially add both Aldridge and Jordan.

Love said in February that there’s no scenario in which he would join the Lakers. He repeatedly insisted he’ll remain in Cleveland throughout last season, even as there were rumors of a divide between he and LeBron James.

The Celtics are reportedly waiting to hear if they will get a meeting with Love, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
