DeMarre Carroll to sign 4-year, $60 million contract with Raptors

The forward has already announced his move to Toronto.

Free agent forward DeMarre Carroll has agreed to a four-year, $60 million contract with the Toronto Raptors, reports Sam Amick of USA Today. The terms of the deal haven't been made official yet, but Carroll confirmed his signing with Toronto on Twitter.

Carroll's stock soared with Atlanta Hawks this season and especially in the playoffs, where his points, rebounds and shooting percentages all rose. "You know Atlanta played a big, major role in my life, major part of my family life so it would always be good to get back to Atlanta," Carroll said in a radio interview after the season. "But, on the same token, my options are open."

Before the Hawks took him in, Carroll was just another journeyman wing bouncing around the NBA. He had played with four teams in four years before signing a two-year contract with Atlanta in 2013, where he finally gained some consistency with his three-point shot and emerged as one of the NBA's best 3-and-D perimeter players.

The 28-year-old averaged several career-highs this season, including 12.6 points, 49 percent shooting and 40 percent shooting from deep, despite his minutes falling just a touch from the 2013-14 season. He’s a highly adaptable player who can fit into any system.

Now the Raptors add one of the best two-way wings on the market to a team that was already among the best in the Eastern Conference. It's presumably going to be the biggest move of the offseason for Toronto, which now boasts an impressive combination with Carroll, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry on the perimeter.
