Steve Blake is leaving the Nets before he ever plays a game for the franchise. The veteran point guard has been dealt to the Detroit Pistons for wing Quincy Miller, according to Real GM’s Shams Charania. The Nets reportedly plan to release Miller.

Blake played nearly 19 minutes per game for the Trail Blazers last season, averaging 4.3 points and 3.6 assists per game. He’ll turn 36 years old in February.

Blake was traded to Brooklyn on draft day when the Nets sent Mason Plumlee to Portland for the rights to Arizona wing Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. The trade leaves the Nets with only Jarrett Jack and Shane Larkin at point guard after agreeing to a buyout with Deron Williams.

In Detroit, Blake will be expected to back up Reggie Jackson, who agreed to an $80 million deal with the Pistons this summer. The Pistons also have Brandon Jennings and Spencer Dinwiddie at point guard.
