Good morning. Let’s basketball.
The Mavericks mimicked ‘Entourage.’ No wonder they failed
Good morning. We now know everything we need to know about The DeCommitment. That and more in Tuesday’s NBA newsletter.

DEANDRE’S ROUND TRIP: Holy tick-tock, Batman. Ramona Shelburne and Tim MacMahon put together an electric story documenting DeAndre Jordan’s courtship by the Mavericks, commitment to Dallas and change of heart. You need to read it; you will learn so much.
Jordan isn’t quoted and might not have even talked to the reporters. (He’s on a boat at sea for a couple more days.) But the level of detail from Blake Griffin, Doc Rivers, John Lucas, Mark Cuban and Chandler Parsons is plenty to round out the shape of this story. Only one person -- not Jordan -- comes off poorly in the story, in my opinion, but I’ll let you decide that for yourself.
WHEN BOOGIE MET GEORGIE: DeMarcus Cousins and George Karl finally ran across each other at Summer League. It was as awkward as you’d imagined. Both Yahoo!‘s Marc Spears and USA Today’s Sam Amick have stories on how Karl will go about trying to rebuild his reputation with Cousins.
UNDUE INFLUENCE: Zach Lowe reports the players’ union is looking at the practice of agencies repping players and coaches or GMs, and how that hurts players.
MEMPHIS DON’T BLUFF: I did a really crude, basic job of assessing how free agency and trades impacted teams in the West playoff bracket. It looks like Memphis might have had a better offseason than San Antonio.
PUTTING THE SPELLCAKES TOGETHER: This is the year the Magic start winning, says Kevin O’Connor.
THIS SAYS EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR WORLD: Dwight Howard owns custom Minions sneakers.
THE CLOSEST THING TO RUSSELL WESTBROOK SINCE RUSSELL WESTBROOK: Dope impersonation.
Happy Tuesday. See you next time.
