Celtics guard Marcus Smart dislocated two fingers on a hard fall in his team's win against the Trail Blazers squad on Summer League action this past Thursday. The injury required stitches, but his X-rays were negative and he's expected to be fine. Nevertheless, he has been ruled out for the rest of Summer League competition.

The play happened midway through the second quarter when Smart dove for a loose ball and landed awkwardly on his right hand. He screamed in pain and was quickly escorted to the bench before going to the locker room. Assistant coach Micah Shrewsberry said that the bone had pierced the skin and the injury required five stitches, according to the Boston Globes' Adam Himmelsbach.
Smart returned to the bench later on and was in good spirits. He's expected to make a full recovery, though no timeline has been set for when he'll be able to return to action. The X-rays will be sent to Boston for further examination. He's expected to play an exhibition game in Africa on Aug. 1, but the injury might change his plans.
Smart was averaging 11 points and two assists in 23 minutes in Las Vegas.
The Celtics Summer League squad will play the Spurs for a spot in the tournament's semifinals on Saturday.
