The Washington Wizards are "closing in" on a trade for Milwaukee small forward Jared Dudley, according to a report from ESPN's Marc Stein. The move is a salary dump for the Bucks who would only receive a future second-round pick in the deal.

Dudley recently exercised a player option for next season, the final year of his deal. He's set to earn $4.25 million, so the trade will free up some salary for the Bucks while giving the Wizards a solid veteran. As Stein pointed out, Dudley could help fill the role that was vacated when Paul Pierce opted out of his deal and signed with the Clippers.
Dudley spent last season with the Bucks after previous stints with the Clippers, Suns and Hornets. He averaged 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game for Milwaukee while playing 24 minutes per contest. He's a solid three-point shooter and should help improve the Wizards' bench. According to Stein, Washington is using a trade exception to take on Dudley's contract.
