NBA Summer League scores 2015: Aaron Gordon shines again

The second-year man continued his excellent play in Orlando with 22 points on Tuesday.

After a disappointing rookie season that featured extended time missed due to injury, Aaron Gordon has looked like a different player at the Orlando Summer League. Granted it's just Summer League, but Gordon's game looks vastly improved, and he put forth another strong performance on Tuesday afternoon against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Gordon's Orlando Magic lost in sudden death overtime, 73-71, but the second-year man put up 22 points on 8-of-19 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks. The youngster shook off a 1-of-10 stretch after a hot start and scored 13 points in the fourth quarter.

One of the most impressive parts of Gordon’s game this summer has been his jumper, and he went 3-of-5 from deep against Memphis. He’s now averaging 21.7 points and shooting 6-of-12 from three in Orlando. Those 21.7 points per game is tops at the Orlando Summer League.

Second-year guard Russ Smith had a big game for the Grizzlies, scoring 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting and hitting the game-winner in overtime.

Okafor nearly notches double-double in ugly game

No. 3 pick Jahlil Okafor got off to a slow start in his Summer League debut for the Philadelphia 76ers, before coming on strong and finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The big man had another uneven performance in his second game, but he still finished with a solid 13 points and nine rebounds (five offensive) in an ugly 76-62 victory over the Boston Celtics.

Okafor shot a pedestrian 5-of-12 from the field and 3-of-6 from the line to go along with four turnovers. He’s turned the ball over four times in both games, but that’s not all that surprising given the defensive attention he’s getting. And while he hasn’t finished at his usual high rate, that’s something he’ll certainly do in time with more experience.

Celtics first-round pick Terry Rozier had 14 points, but he shot just 4-of-11 as Boston shot under 27 percent for the game. Fellow first-rounder R.J. Hunter missed all three of his three-pointers and still hasn’t made a shot at the Summer League.

Kaminsky scores 11 in victory

In another game featuring a lot of bricks, Charlotte Hornets first-round pick Frank Kaminsky had a so-so showing in a 64-55 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Kaminsky scored 11 points, but he shot just 4-of-11 and missed both of his three-pointers.

This was Kaminsky’s worst showing in three games thus far -- he scored 19 points in his debut and 14 in his second game while shooting a high percentage from three.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had a rough effort for the Nets, scoring just two points on 1-of-6 shooting. The Hornets' P.J. Hairston left the game with a shoulder contusion.

Anderson, Hood impress in tight game

Who knows how much Kyle Anderson plays on a loaded San Antonio Spurs team, but the second-year man showed off his talent in an impressive 25-point performance against the Utah Jazz. Anderson shot 8-of-14 from the field and went 8-of-9 from the line.

However, the Jazz came away with a 72-70 victory, with second-year swingman Rodney Hood pouring in 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
