NBA schedule: Suns, Timberwolves have fewest back-to-backs

The NBA cut down on back-to-backs for every team by nearly two games apiece, with Phoenix and Minnesota drawing the luckiest schedules.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Suns and the Timberwolves both have the fewest back-to-backs (14) for the 2015-16 season while five teams have 20 back-to-backs, the most of any team this year.

No team has more than two instances where they play four games in five nights and in general, the NBA cut back drastically on those scheduling hardships. Last year, there were 70 instances of “four-in-five” while this year there are just 27. Some teams don’t have a single four-in-five on the schedule.

Back-to-backs in general have also been cut back, going from an average of 19.3 last season to 17.8 this year. The five teams tied for the most are the Pistons, the Warriors, the Rockets, the Clippers and the Bucks.

Last year, the Clippers had the best record on the tail end of a back-to-back, going 16-4. Once again, they have 20 back-to-backs this season.

Here’s a complete list of back-to-backs and instances of four games in five nights.
