Good morning. Let’s basketball.
DeMarcus Cousins is a long lost Splash Brother
Good morning. That and more in Tuesday’s NBA newsletter.

MOSES THE GREAT: Paul Flannery ruminates on Moses Malone, the best damn center he ever saw. I found Charles Barkley’s remembrance quite touching, as well.
THE REAL HAWKS: Tim Cato has questions about the Atlanta Hawks’ identity, especially in the absence of DeMarre Carroll.
THE JASON KIDD CONSOLIDATION OF POWER TAKES A BRIEF PAUSE: The Bucks added a year to GM John Hammond’s contract, which means he and coach Jason Kidd both have contracts that expire at the end of 2016-17. There were rumors that Kidd was angling to push Hammond aside earlier this summer; those were quickly shot down. It’s not as if Kidd doesn’t have a rap sheet in this regard, however. Milwaukee management knows that better than most!
BOOGIE THE GOD: There was a Kentucky-North Carolina alumni game this weekend. DeMarcus Cousins used it as his canvas and hit five threes in the first half, including one of the midcourt logo. He’s evolving! (George Karl will drop him in an ocean if he starts doing this during the NBA season.)
FIGHT ON, FLIP: David Aldridge opens The Morning Tip with a beautiful discussion of Flip Saunders.
THIS IS VERY RUSSELL WESTBROOK: If you’re a man who likes to share his nipples with everyone you meet, do Russell Westbrook and Barneys New York have the shirts for you.
SALT CITY: DeAndre Jordan, a Texan, is a Dallas Cowboys fan. This revelation greatly upset a number of Dallas residents on Sunday who ripped Jordan on Twitter. Salty lil’ people.
JIMMER TIME LIVES? An argument that Jimmer Fredette has a good chance of making the Spurs roster out of training camp.

GOOD QUESTION I FEEL WE KNOW THE ANSWER TO: Is NBA Live back?
PRIMING FOR THE SALE: The Nets have a new local TV deal with YES. Those who pay attention to these things indicate that this deal plus the new national TV deal for the league will ensure profitability for Brooklyn, which has been the NBA’s biggest purveyor of red ink since Mikhail Prokhorov took over.
UH OH: There appears to be some sort of fight over the late Melvin Simon’s stake in the Indiana Pacers. It’s all very confusing, but there’s a judge involved so ...
YOU BE THE JUDGE: Is this cogent advice for young basketball writers trying to break in, or is it sabotage aimed at culling the next generation of writers in order to prevent competition for eyeballs? #staywoke
Happy Tuesday. See you next time.
