The No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft is on his way out of Minnesota. Power forward Anthony Bennett has reached a buyout agreement with the Timberwolves, according to Yahoo! Sports' Shams Charania. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported Monday that Bennett and the Wolves were progressing toward a buyout.

The former top overall draft pick will be moving on to his third team in three years.

Bennett was a surprise first overall pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers after one season at UNLV where he averaged 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Bennett's career got off to a poor start with a shoulder injury caused him to be sidelined for four months following the completion of the college season. He played only 52 games in his lone year in Cleveland before being traded to Minnesota as part of the Kevin Love for Andrew Wiggins trade last summer.
Bennett never found his spot in a Minnesota frontcourt crowded with young talent like Gorgui Dieng, Nikola Pekovic and Adreian Payne. He averaged only 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds for Minnesota in 57 games last season.
Bennett, still just 22 years old, would become a free agent if he clears waivers. The Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, Cavaliers and Utah Jazz are the only teams with the cap space or trade exception available to absorb his $5.8 million contract for 2015-16, and the Blazers and Sixers are expected to be suitors.
