NBA Saturday: Warriors fall in Detroit

It’s unfair to ask the Warriors to continue to play at the superlative level they did earlier in the year, when they were destroying anyone that crossed their path. At some point, they were going to have the normal lows that any team goes through during an 82-game season. Yet with their historic start they set the bar so high that any loss feels like a huge letdown, no matter the circumstances.

The Warriors haven’t really gotten off track. Lingering injuries, boredom over a long season and inspired opponents have made them look mortal over the past week. They will have the opportunity to become the scary monster they were earlier in the year with a win over the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Monday, something they are more than capable of doing. The luster that now seems gone could return with a good streak.

That has to hurt for Washington, but to be fair, the game was only that close because Boston made some really terrible mistakes late, something that has been a problem all season long.

The Nene putback was waived and the Celtics won a game that both teams did their best to lose.

Jeremy Lin’s hair is officially an occupational hazard for NBA defenders. Jerryd Bayless not only got the pain of banging heads with Lin, but he also got a spike of hair right in the eye.

When the Bucks aren’t being poked in the eye by the hair, they are busy being mesmerized by it.

The franchise celebrated one of the best players in its history with a touching video tribute highlighting his dedication to the game and community.

As touching as that was, the best moment of the night was when the Pistons played the old Big Ben bells for Wallace and he dabbed!
