Good morning. Let’s basketball.
No one ever taught Boban Marjanovic how to chill
Good morning. We have that and more in Monday’s NBA newsletter.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NEWS: There’s a new rap video about Kristaps Porzingis out of Latvia. The song is called “Keep Calm Like Kristaps Porzingis.” Yeah. YEAH. The video features Lamborghinis in snowy Latvia (one with the top down), plus a woman dancing in traditional Latvian costume. I think my favorite lyric (outside of the titular chorus) is “Carmelo Anthony, shout out!” but there are a number of options here.
MORE EXCELLENT NBA KITSCH RAP NEWS: A few weeks after releasing an inexplicable version of an Obama-dubbed version of “Jumpman” to boost Andre Drummond’s All-Star candidacy, the Pistons put out an Obama-dubbed version of “Forgot About Dre.” Spectacular.
JO, NO! Just back from an injury, Joakim Noah separated his shoulder badly enough that he will miss the remainder of the season. This would be bad on its own, but consider also that the Bulls appeared to be looking for a new home for Noah by the trade deadline and that Noah will be a free agent in July. Bad injury at a bad time.
GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS: Bad news first: the Warriors lost again, this time to the Pistons by a substantial margin. But Stephen Curry is taking shots from the center court logo early in the shot clock so all is forgiven. If that wasn’t cocky enough, he said this weekend that he hopes the visitors’ locker room in Cleveland, which the Warriors will visit Monday, still smells like champagne. RUDE.
GOOD NEWS, GOOD NEWS: The Spurs keep winning (11 straight). During a blowout of the Mavericks Sunday, Boban Marjanovic picked up a technical for taunting Jeremy Evans and hanging on the rim (while standing on the ground). Boban Life. Also, LaMarcus Aldridge hit the Dirk in Dirk’s face, which is extremely disrespectful.
WILL BARTON IS GREAT: Here’s Will Barton giving a baby a fist bump.
YOU NEED TO BAZE MORE: Nice Kent Bazemore profile from our friend James Herbert.
THUNDER UP: Rob Mahoney on the season the Thunder are putting together in the shadows of the Warriors and Spurs.
YOU DON’T SAY: Matthew Dellavedova was named the NBA’s dirtiest player in an L.A. Times poll of players, coaches and execs. It was a limited poll (24 responses), for what it’s worth. It’s funny to me that the top three vote-getters -- Delly, Steven Adams and Andrew Bogut -- are all from Australia and New Zealand.
THE LESSON AS ALWAYS: MATT BARNES IS A JERK. He called Derek Fisher a snitch in the media, so the NBA fined him $35,000.
MLK MONDAY: The NBA has four national TV games for the Monday holiday.
2:30 p.m. ET: Pelicans at Grizzlies, ESPN
5 p.m. ET: Magic at Hawks, NBA TV
8 p.m. ET: Warriors at Cavaliers, TNT
10:30 p.m. ET: Rockets at Clippers, TNT
Happy Monday. Take care.
