Sting, the legendary British pop artist, will headline the 2016 NBA All-Star Game halftime show in February, the league announced on Thursday.
Sting to headline 2016 NBA All-Star Game halftime show
Taking a page out of the NFL playbook, the NBA will turn to a retirement-age musician for its biggest entertainment showcase.

The 64-year-old best known as the lead man of The Police, will perform a compilation of his hits during the All-Star Game on Feb. 14, at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. NBA All-Star halftime acts often feature special guests, as well, and there should be plenty of artists in Toronto for All-Star Weekend, including former teen actor Drake, who is a big NBA fan and an ambassador for the Raptors.
The league also revealed that Cirque du Soleil will perform during the player introductions on All-Star Sunday, which promises to be fantastically weird. The indisputably best player intro performance was 2009 when the Jabbawockeez participated, led by Shaq and featuring a dancing LeBron.
All-Star Weekend begins Feb. 12.
