Rick Carlisle compared the Mavericks ‘abominable’ start to a Donald Trump debate performance

Carlisle earned brownie points with his boss Mark Cuban and a large plurality of American voters.

Rick Carlisle’s Dallas Mavericks went down 21-4 to the Houston Rockets within the first seven minutes of the team’s penultimate preseason game Wednesday. Meanwhile, Donald Trump debated Hillary Clinton for the third and final time in Las Vegas. According to public polling, Trump has been trailing by increasing margins since the first presidential debate nearly a month ago.

After the game, Carlisle made a tidy analogy. From our own Tim Cato, who was on the scene:

Carlisle is not conceding the Wokest NBA Coach title to Gregg Popovich or Steve Kerr just yet. It helps that Carlisle’s boss, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, is a staunch Clinton surrogate who has taunted Trump throughout the campaign and attended the Wednesday debate as a guest of the Democratic nominee.

The Mavericks eventually lost to the Rockets 106-91, a 15-point margin. According to CNN’s instant poll, Clinton won the debate 52 percent to 39 percent, a 13-point margin. Pretty close there, coach.
