Joel Embiid looks better with each game.
NBA scores 2016: The 76ers are climbing the East standings
Monday was a good night for basketball highlights.

A day after scoring 26 points in 20 minutes — and celebrating at a local bar dressed in his own jersey — Embiid torched Hassan Whiteside for 22 points (7-for-13 shooting) in 23 minutes along with three blocks in Philadelphia’s 101-94 win over Miami on Monday.
Embiid is averaging 18 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. But that’s on a minutes restriction. His 39.3 points per 48 minutes ranks in fifth in the NBA behind, of course, Russell Westbrook, James Jones, DeMar DeRozan, and Anthony Davis.
Take a look at what he did against Whiteside.
Philadelphia is now 4-10. That’s not the record of a playoff-bound team, but the Sixers’ have beat Miami, Phoenix, Washington, and Indiana. And if Embiid keeps hooping the way he has been, maybe Philly fans have something to look forward to in the coming years.
It’s not every day the NBA is blessed with a big man possessing guard-like skills. Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns put Al Horford on notice Monday night with a devastating step-back that left Boston wondering, “Why?”
Michael Jordan just couldn’t stop laughing at Tony Allen’s offense
Tony Allen will lock you up. Kobe Bryant gifted him a pair of sneakers as the toughest individual opponent of his 20-year career.
That being said, offense was never Allen’s strong suit. He’s averaged just over eight points per game over his career.
So when he went on a tear — 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting — in the Grizzlies’ win over Charlotte on Monday, Hornets owner Michael Jordan couldn’t help but laugh.
Steph Curry hit another flat-out ridiculous shot
Steph Curry continues to do Steph Curry things. Of course the bucket didn’t count, but the Warriors went on to win by 37. They did well without it.
Monday’s top performers
Bradley Beal (42 points, 14-22 shooting, 5-10 three-point, 9-11 free throw)
Nights like Monday remind people why Washington signed Beal to a five-year, $128 million deal over the summer. It just seemed like he couldn’t miss.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (21 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists)
Add 10 more assists to Antetokounmpo’s total. It’s unclear if he can be a full-time point guard, but it’ll be fun watching as he and Jason Kidd figure it out.
James Harden (28 points, 6-17 shooting, 11 assists, 8 rebounds, 6 turnovers)
Tough night for Harden both shooting and taking care of the ball, but Houston rattled off its fourth win in five games.
Chris Paul (26 points, 8-14 shooting, 12 assists)
CP3 has the Clippers off to the league’s best record early. If they can keep it up ... let’s not jinx it.
Karl-Anthony Towns (27 points, 11-19 shooting, 18 rebounds)
KAT is unlike anything we’ve ever seen at the center position. He’s making a case to be an All-Star starter in just his second season in the NBA.
