Who would you pick to lead your NBA franchise?

On the Drive & Kick podcast, Flannery and Gonzalez discuss who they’d pick to build a franchise around from among the best prospects under age 23.

You get to start a franchise from scratch and you can take one player under the age of 23* to build around. Here are your five options: Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kristaps Porzingis, or Joel Embiid. Where do you start?

On this week’s Drive & Kick, we both had Embiid at five and then disagreed on the order all the way to the top. Gonzalez loves him some Greek Freak, while Flannery’s riding with KAT.

That makes for a fun exercise, but really you could take any of these guys and make a go of it. Pity that some of their franchises are already locked in an awkward spiral of mediocrity.

(* The correct answer, by the way, is Kawhi Leonard, but he’s 24 and Gonz said that made him ineligible. He’s an ageist, apparently.)

Also on this week’s podcast:

  • Gonz totally jinxed the Lakers who haven’t won a game since his big feature came out last week.
  • Flannery’s Raptors are cruising right along, however, defying the Sunday Shootaround Curse.
  • #FreePaulMillsap
  • We wondered what’s up with the Nuggets and Pacers. Flanns says it’s time for Denver to pick a direction and start dealing some of its vets.
  • Gonz defends the Pacers even though they make no sense.
