Trail Blazers’ Festus Ezeli ‘likely’ to undergo season-ending knee surgery, per report
Ezeli has dealt with knee problems his whole career.

Ezeli was one of the Blazers’ big free agent additions, signing a two-year deal worth $15 million over the summer after Ezeli spent four years with the Warriors. Ezeli was great when he was on the court for Golden State the last two seasons, averaging 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds on 55 percent shooting, but he still missed 31 games after a midseason knee scope.
Ezeli, after his redshirt senior season at Vanderbilt, played 78 games his rookie season with the Warriors but lost his entire sophomore season in 2013-14 to knee problems. Portland signed him as a high risk, high reward proposition this summer, knowing the team needed an efficient, defensive-minded big man on the roster given their defensive weaknesses. However, Portland — which currently has the worst defense in the league — probably won’t be able to count on Ezeli’s help this year.
