Stephen Curry’s mouthguard — and while he goes through many, it seems proper to refer to them as a singular entity — has a life of its own. It has been thrown into a crowd, striking a fan. It has been auctioned off for $5,000, and it has led to Curry shooting better free throws. Now it has been dropped mid-play, caught by Curry while he kept his dribble, which directly led to an assist.

That catch is honestly impressive, though — Curry does it all while not even looking down. Tas Melas raises a good point: Is this the evolution of Curry’s game? Is he dropping his mouthguard on purpose to distract wayward defenders?

This story is less odd than the last one involving mouthpieces, at least.
