Good morning. Let’s basketball.
The Warriors sparked another big NBA debate
Good morning. We have that and more in Monday’s NBA newsletter.

BOOGIE NIGHTS: What do you do with DeMarcus Cousins? That’s what Paul Flannery works through in this week’s awesome Sunday Shootaround. Boogie is having the best season of his career but the Kings are still going nowhere fast due to a poor roster. Do you trade him? Can you afford to trade him? Flanns talks to Dave Joerger, Boogie, and more. Check it out.
HOT TOKE: Steve Kerr argues that players should be able to use marijuana for pain relief. It seems like a safer option than opioid painkillers. But Earl Watson cautions glorifying marijuana’s pain-relieving properties while, in much of the country, it’ll still get a kid arrested.
WELPVILLE: Two days after earning a critical flagrant for kicking James Harden in the face, Draymond Green kicked his leg at Marquese Chriss. No penalty this time, but you can be sure the league is watching, especially after Green ripped NBA officials for sanctioning his kick on Harden. The league responded to Green’s claims he’s being singled out on Sunday.
SCORES GALORE ...
Magic 98, Pistons 92
Pelicans 92, Thunder 101
Kings 98, Knicks 106
Pacers 111, Clippers 102
SHEESH: Anthony Davis apparently had precautionary X-rays taken after Sunday’s loss. How many AD health scares are we going to have this year?
WAITING GAME: Donatas Motiejunas signed an offer sheet with a fairly low guarantee with the Nets on Friday. We’ll soon find out if the Rockets are willing to cut someone and take on salary to bring him back.
THE ATLANTA HAWKS: The Hawks lost by 36 to the Pistons and by 44 to the Raptors over the weekend, both games playing with Paul Millsap. So ... is Paul Millsap the MVP?
THE DREW TO THE LEAGUE: Marc Spears makes a parallel between James Harden’s beloved Drew League and his play under D’Antoni.
THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT: Nathaniel Friedman on sports amid misery.
NEXT UP: This is a good Monday for basketball. The NBA TV double feature has Celtics-Rockets at 8 p.m. ET and Pacers-Warriors at 10:30. But League Pass has Cavaliers-Raptors (7:30), Thunder-Hawks (7:30), Blazers-Bulls (8), Spurs-Bucks (8), and Jazz-Lakers (10:30). Basketball galore!
Be excellent to each other.
