The blows just keep on coming for the Pelicans. Tyreke Evans, who has been in and out of the lineup this season with right knee pain, is planning to go under the knife again and will miss the rest of the season, the Pelicans officially announced Thursday.

Evans, who has missed New Orleans' last seven games, is averaging 15.2 points, 6.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 25 games for the 19-32 Pelicans. New Orleans is 6.5 games behind the Rockets for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

He’s scheduled to visit specialists this week to finalize his surgery details, according to The Vertical. This will be his third time undergoing surgery on that knee since May, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune.

Evans, 26, and the 2009-10 Rookie of the Year, has one year and just over $10 million left on his contract. He was acquired by the Pelicans in July 2013 as part of a three-team sign-and-trade involving the Blazers and Kings.
