NBA 3-point Contest 2016: Time, TV schedule, participants and more

Stephen Curry is back to defend his title in the 2016 edition of the Three-Point Contest. The league's MVP headlines a star-studded field that includes teammate Klay Thompson, the Rockets' James Harden and the Raptors' Kyle Lowry. Specialists J.J. Redick, Khris Middleton and Devin Booker will also be there, looking to pull off the upset.

Portland's C.J. McCollum was tabbed as a replacement for Heat forward Chris Bosh on Friday.

Curry is the prohibitive favorite to win it all once again. The Warriors star is shooting 45 percent from beyond the arc this season and proved last time he participated that his skills translate to this setting by having a 27-point round to claim the title. If he repeats as champion, he would be the sixth player in the contest's 30 editions to do so and the first since Jason Kapono won it back to back in 2007 and 2008.

Harden, Redick and Thompson participated in last season's edition. The Rockets star and the Clippers sharpshooter will be looking to redeem themselves after failing to advance to the final round in 2015. Redick actually boasts a better three-point shooting percentage than Curry this season and trails only Kawhi Leonard in that category, so he's probably Curry's biggest threat. Harden is more of a streaky shooter but he could catch fire at the right time. Thompson, meanwhile, proved in the first round last year that he can compete with anyone in the event.

Specialists Khris Middleton and Devin Booker could spoil the stars' fun and claim the title. Both will be making their debut in the event but are shooting over 40 percent from beyond the arc. The Suns rookie has one of the purest strokes in the league and has turned heads recently thanks to his great play. The Bucks wing and best player has been a model of consistency, clearing the 40 percent mark on the three seasons in which he's been a rotation player.
