The Milwaukee Bucks will be without guard O.J. Mayo for the rest of the season after he fractured his ankle on Thursday. The injury didn’t come during a game or practice, but instead occurred when Mayo tripped going down the stairs of his house.

The injury is serious enough that it could require surgery, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical. Mayo is the second guard the Bucks have lost to a season-ending injury this week. Michael Carter-Williams will also miss the rest of the year to have surgery on a torn labrum in his hip. Mayo is averaging 7.8 points and 2.9 assists in 26.6 minutes per game this season. He split time between the starting lineup and a bench role, starting 26 of the 41 games he appeared in.
Mayo is hardly the first professional athlete to get injured at home or in a peculiar way. Former Detroit Lions tight end Joseph Fauria sprained his ankle in 2014 when he missed the bottom two stairs as he was trying to rush his puppy out of the house before it peed. Former MLB closer Kazuhiro Sasaki once injured himself when he tripped while trying to carry some luggage up stairs.
