This space is going to be used to give you the five best plays for the games on Wednesday, March 16. Also, for a limited time SB Nation will be competing against other sites in the FanDuel Partners Basketball Championship. You can play along and follow the contest as well.
So, with that, let’s get started.
1. Andre Drummond, C, Detroit Pistons ($7,900)
You have to dig a little deeper to find the gold in this matchup, the Pistons' Wednesday night game against the Atlanta Hawks. Drummond, as you surely know, is one of the league's top rebounders, especially on the offensive end. He leads the NBA in putback points -- by a wide margin. Lucky for him the Hawks are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league. They're have the NBA's second worst rebounding rate and only five teams have allowed more second-chance points, and only four have allowed more FanDuel points to opposing centers (via RotoWire). A 20-rebound night is in play for Drummond.
2. Brandon Jennings, PG, Orlando Magic ($3,500)
Follow the injuries. Starting point guard Elfrid Payton is likely out again for the Magic and backup C.J. Watson is dealing with an illness. That means you can get a starter in Jennings for a ridiculously low price. Jennings started on Tuesday night and had 12 points and 11 assists in 27 minutes. He should be able to match those numbers Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets.
3. Ryan Anderson, PF, New Orleans Pelicans ($5,600)
Anderson and New Orleans get to take on the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday in what should be a high-scoring affair. Neither team defends and both play fast. As for Sacramento, it's struggled all season containing three-point shooters and is allowing more three-point attempts than any other team in the league. That bodes well for a sharpshooter like Anderson, who's averaging 24.3 points per game in three contests this year against Sacramento.
4. Matt Barnes, SF, Memphis Grizzlies ($5,600)
Hey, someone on Memphis' roster has to score, and with Lance Stephenson now questionable no reason to believe that won't be Barnes. Again, as a refresher: Memphis is missing Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Mike Conley, Mario Chalmers, Vince Carter and likely Stephenson, too. Barnes dropped 26 points against the Pelicans three games ago and on Wednesday gets to face the feckless Minnesota Timberwolves defense.
5. J.J. Redick, SG, Los Angeles Clippers ($4,800)
We all know about James Harden's disdain for defense; there might not be a worst matchup for him than the perpetually moving Redick. It's no accident that the Clippers shooting guard is averaging 26 points in three games against the Houston Rockets this season. Houston doesn't defend and it gives up a ton of open looks. That's a perfect situation for Redick to be in.
