Michael Beasley and the Rockets are close to a deal, per report

Houston will reportedly be the team to welcome Beasley back into the NBA.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Michael Beasley is nearing a return to the NBA, with ESPN reporting that he is close to signing a deal with the Houston Rockets for the remainder of the season that would include a team option for the 2016-17 season.

Beasley, who played 24 games with the Miami Heat last season, has been playing overseas in China this year. The season recently ended and Beasley was named the league's MVP, averaging nearly 32 points and 13 rebounds per game on 54 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc. His development into a viable three-point shooter is what made him a target for multiple NBA teams as soon as the Chinese season ended, and it appears the Rockets will end up with the seven-year NBA veteran.

The Rockets have vastly disappointed after reaching the Western Conference Finals last season and recently cleared up a roster spot by waiving Ty Lawson, whom they unsuccessfully hoped would return to top form this year.

Here you can watch Beasley score 49 points in a Chinese game back in November.
