This space is going to be used to give you the five best plays for the games on Wednesday, March 9. Also, for a limited time SB Nation will be competing against other sites in the FanDuel Partners Basketball Championship. You can play along and follow the contest as well.
So, with that, let’s get started.
1. LeBron James, SF, Cleveland Cavaliers ($10,100)
The Sacramento Kings have the NBA's fifth-worst defensive rating and play at the league's fastest pace. They're always a good target from a fantasy perspective and on Wednesday the team lucky enough to face them is LeBron's Cavaliers. Cleveland had a day off Tuesday so it should be nice and rested. Oh, and there's been a lot of talk about LeBron possibly not being happy with the way things are going down right now in the Cavs locker room. That's usually when he responds with a big game.
2. Goran Dragic, PG, Miami Heat ($6,800)
Dragic has been fantastic since the All-Star break, averaging 19.2 points, 7.4 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. He's seeing 30+ minutes every night and has recorded at least 35 FanDuel points in four straight games. Not bad for a player going for less than $7,000. On Wednesday he gets to take on a Milwaukee Bucks team that has struggled defensively all season and has lost its best point guard defender, Michael Carter-Williams. All that signals that Dragic could be in for a big night.
3. Robert Covington, SF, Philadelphia 76ers ($5,700)
Covington is streaky, but he's hot right now. He's averaging over 30 FanDuel points per night over his last three games. Look for him to match that total Wednesday against the Houston Rockets, one of the league's worst defensive teams and a unit surrendering a league-high 39 FanDuel points per night to opposing small forwards, via RotoWire. You can't ask for a much better matchup than that.
4. Tobias Harris, PF, Detroit Pistons ($5,800)
Harris has been everything the Pistons hoped for. He's averaging 16.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting over 50 percent from the field since joining Detroit. He's also seen his minutes rise as Stanley Johnson and Anthony Tolliver deal with injuries. On Wednesday he takes on a Dallas Mavericks team that plays fast and struggles on defense, the magic words for fantasy owners.
5. Alex Len, C, Phoenix Suns ($6,600)
Len is coming off a 50-point FanDuel night Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies and is averaging 20.4 points, 14.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over his last five games. Those numbers themselves make him a must-play. The fact that he's taking on a hapless New York Knicks team coming off a loss Tuesday night in Denver is just icing on the cake.
