The Washington Wizards are looking for a new head coach. Washington has officially fired Randy Wittman after five seasons, the team announced early Thursday morning. Wittman knew of his fate following the team’s final game, according to the Washington Post.
Wizards fire head coach Randy Wittman
Wittman is out after a .500 season in Washington.

Wittman finished 177-199 during his five seasons as head coach of the Wizards. He led Washington to the playoffs twice, including last season’s first-round playoff sweep over the Raptors.
Wittman will ultimately be held responsible for a season in which the Wizards regressed, finishing 41-41 and missing the playoffs for the first time since 2012-13. The Wizards were derailed by inconsistent play and injuries all season long. Starting shooting guard Bradley Beal only played in 55 games while dealing with a shoulder injury and a stress reaction in his right fibula. Frontcourt staple Nene was also held to just 56 games due to a variety of injuries.
Scott Brooks and Jeff Hornacek are both potential candidates to fill the Wizards’ vacancy, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
