Spurs vs. Grizzlies, 2016 NBA playoffs: Game time, TV schedule and how to watch online

The Grizzlies want to at least avoid the sweep against a superior Spurs team.

The Grizzlies will look to get on the board, as their first-round NBA playoff series against the Spurs moves to Memphis on Friday night for Game 3.

In the first two games in San Antonio there was no parity between the second best team in the West and the seventh. The Grizzlies limped to the playoffs despite losing 15 of their last 20 games after an injury-filled regular season. The Spurs, fresh of setting a franchise record for wins, were expected to dominate them and they have so far with two blowout victories by a combined 58 points. It really has been a slaughter so far.

Without Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, Memphis has been forced to rely too much on Zach Randolph, who at this point in his career is not suited to be a first option. San Antonio has done a great job of limiting his impact, holding him to 8.5 points and 15 shots a game. He's been swatted away nine times, as his ground-bound game has failed him against longer and springier defenders.

The Spurs, on the other hand, are not having trouble scoring. They are healthy, which means Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge lead the way on both ends while their older players settle into smaller roles. Gregg Popovich is surely delighted to have been able to keep the minutes for everyone low, thinking about a potential deep run. Everything so far has worked perfectly for San Antonio.

It’s hard to see the series changing significantly. Unless something unthinkable happens, the Spurs will beat the Grizzlies and will advance to the second round. What Memphis can do is make the process as hard as possible before bowing out and getting ready for next season.
