Kevin Durant tried to tell you that he is not nice

Good morning. We have that and more in Sunday’s NBA newsletter.

Good morning. Let’s basketball.

LEMONADE: Paul Flannery’s Sunday Shootaround focuses on Isaiah Thomas’ breakout performance in Game of Celtics-Hawks, one that saved Boston’s season and prevented (or at least delayed) a nasty narrative from forming. Paul also runs through reactions to the new coaches hired this week, has the best quotes of the week and more. Check it out.

TORON-D’OH: After winning two straight games and building back up some belief, the Raptors got ran out of the gym by Ian Mahinmi and George Hill. Good grief. This series is tied 2-2.

I’M STARTING TO THINK THESE TEAMS DON’T LIKE EACH OTHER: In another chippy battle, OKC triumphed over Dallas but watched Kevin Durant succumb to anger and get hit with an iffy Flagrant-2 in the closing moments. It’s more likely it will be bumped down to a Flagrant-1 than result in a suspension, but it was still silly. Durant sought out Justin Anderson (the Mav he struck) immediately after the game and apologized.

KILLER BEES LIVE IN THE PLACE TO BE: Charlotte earned its first playoff win in 14 years by, uh, taking Hassan Whiteside out of his game and getting big nights from Jeremy Lin and Frank Kaminsky, who started and went on a third-quarter rampage.

WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING ... Portland’s guard finally found space to operate and racked up the points against the Clippers, preventing a sweep and keeping the Blazers in the series.

DUNK OF THE DAY: Check out Mason Plumlee hitting a reverse tip dunk. Box outs, people!

LAC 88, POR 96 (L.A. leads 2-1)

ON THE AIR TODAY ...

Spurs at Grizzlies, 1 p.m. ET, ABC (SAS leads 3-0)
Warriors at Rockets, 3:30 p.m., ABC (GSW leads 2-1)
Hawks at Celtics, 6 p.m., TNT (ATL leads 2-1)
Cavaliers at Pistons, 8:30 p.m., TNT (CLE leads 3-0)

HOT NEW KINGS LOGOS!

UH OH: Steph Curry is expected to play in Game 4. I predict that Golden State is going to stomp the life out of the Rockets’ season and that at least one Rocket (take a guess) is going to try to be ultra-physical with Steph. High potential for a physical altercation in this game.

EXCELLENT MERCH: An eye-rolling James Harden beard comb.

OUCH: Chris Kaman does not mince words when it comes to his opinion on Taylor Swift.

Happy Sunday. Enjoy the games. See you next time.
