After helping lead his team to a regular-season record 73 wins, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been named NBA Coach of the Year. Kerr received 64 of a possible 130 first place votes. Portland's Terry Stotts came in second and San Antonio's Gregg Popovich finished third. You can find complete voting results here.

Kerr, 50 and in his second year as Warriors head coach, was forced to miss Golden State’s first 43 games after undergoing offseason back surgery to repair a spinal fluid leak. The procedure led to chronic migraine issues, which Kerr still suffers from today.

During that span, Kerr was replaced on the bench by assistant coach Luke Walton. The Warriors won their first 24 games of the year and went 39-4 with Walton at the helm.

Kerr returned to the court on Jan. 22 and the Warriors won 39 of their next 44 games, though all of Walton's wins officially belong to Kerr. Walton, however, was listed on the Coach of the Year ballot. Kerr also beat out one of his mentors, Gregg Popovich, for the award.

The Warriors currently lead the Rockets 3-1 in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
