The Hornets have put together a fantastic stretch just at the right time. They strung together three wins to come back from a 0-2 deficit in the series and could punch their ticket to the second round by beating the Heat in Charlotte in Game 6.

After three straight losses, the Heat will fight for their playoff lives in Charlotte.

Courtney Lee was the hero on Wednesday, as his three-pointer acted as the game-winner that has put the Hornets in a position to close the series at home. Lee got an offensive rebound with 25 seconds to go, fired a three-pointer that found nothing but net and then blocked a Dwyane Wade layup attempt to seal the win. It was the coronation of a full team effort that started when Charlotte was behind by six points at the start of the final period.
Now, the Hornets have the chance to deliver the final blow and they should not let it slip. They have leveraged their depth and size to beat the Heat three straight times but have only outscored Miami by a combined six points in the last two. Had a couple of calls gone the other way, things could be different. They will have to be at their best in order to win a fourth straight and advance to face the winner of the Raptors vs. Pacers series.
Wade won't make that easy. The future Hall-of-Famer is averaging close to 20 points to go with five rebounds and six assists. He's looked rejuvenated and is as dangerous as ever when he has room to operate. He can't do it alone, however, so he will need the supporting case -- especially Goran Dragic -- to step up. If that happens, Miami has the talent to not only force a Game 7 but win it as well.
The Heat started out the season with hopes of making the conference finals, while the Hornets only hoped to make the playoffs. A Charlotte win would represent a triumph for a franchise that hasn’t had much luck recently. It would also mean failure for Wade and Pat Riley. The Hornets better be ready to take it, because Miami won’t go down without a fight.
