Good morning. Let’s basketball.
More like Villa-YES-Va!
Good morning. We have that and more in Tuesday’s NBA newsletter.

WILDCATS, WILDCATS ... WILDCATS, HO! Villanova beat UNC in the best national title game in decades, as Kris Jenkins erased what nearly was a Marcus Paige game-winner at the buzzer. What a finish! Jenkins’ role was made even more poignant by the fact that he was adopted by the family of UNC’s Kenny Britt as a child. Jenkins celebrated with his birth family and the Britts after the game -- just a marvelous moment. Congrats to Philly and Nova Nation. Let’s hear One Shining Moment!
NEXT UP: UCONN-SYRACUSE: The women’s national championship is Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. UConn is trying to win its fourth straight title. Syracuse is trying to stop that, as crazy as it seems.
WE HAVE AN ANSWER: Was Allen Iverson going to make the Hall of Fame on the first ballot? Yes sir. He, Shaq, Yao Ming, Sheryl Swoopes and Tom Izzo will grace the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this fall. That’s a pretty fun class!
THE MAGIC OF THE SPURS IS THAT THERE IS NO MAGIC. I wrote about how no one can even really claim to be mimicking the Spurs because there’s nothing concrete to copy. They are the least trendy franchise ever.
WELPVILLE, TENNESSEE: Mike Conley is likely out for the regular season and the playoffs, should the Grizzlies actually make the playoffs.
THE HEAT IS THON: Thon Maker did an extensive Q&A with DraftExpress to discuss his decision to petition for entry in the 2016 draft.
WELL HELLO: In case you’ve been ignoring the drama-ridden Cavaliers, LeBron has been playing out of his mind lately.
SPEAKING OF THE JAMESES ... LeBron Jr. with the swat and fast break combo. I’m telling you, better start tanking now.
AWW: Luc Longley tells Steve Kerr that if the Warriors break the Bulls’ record, no one will remember their playing careers. Don’t tell poor Luc no basketball fan under the age of 21 has any idea who he is ...
ON THE AIR TONIGHT: In addition to the women’s national championship, the NBA is back. TNT’s doubleheader is Pistons-Heat (playoff implications!) at 8 p.m. ET followed by Timberwolves-Warriors (No. 70?) at 10:30. Philly’s best shot at Win No. 10 comes against New Orleans, the Hornets and Raptors tangle in a potential second-round matchup, the Bulls and Grizzlies meet in a very sad battle and the Spurs and Jazz meet in a potential first-round preview. Basketball!
Happy Tuesday. See you next time.
